ancient and ethnic scales

Hi friends,
I've spent some time on the internet trying to find
generous lists of ancient and ethnic scales in their
original tunings, preferably listed with cents. I've
found some things, but I bet there's a book out
there--or a website--I've missed. Anyone know where to
guide me? I already have the old Helmholtz book,
Mathieu's book, Danielou's book, and the old Wilkinson
book. I just have a feeling there's a bigger list than
any of these books have.
Thanks in advance,
Chris Mohr

i have a page about Arab lute frettings here:

http://tonalsoft.com/enc/index2.htm?../monzo/arablute/arablute.htm

and a page about (eastern) Indian tuning here:

http://tonalsoft.com/enc/index2.htm?../monzo/indian/indian.htm

which also includes links to debates from Paul Erlich
about the validity of my speculations.

and there's quite a bit of stuff there about ancient Greek
tunings ... here are a few:

http://tonalsoft.com/enc/index2.htm?../monzo/aristoxenus/318tet.htm

http://tonalsoft.com/enc/index2.htm?philolaus.htm

http://tonalsoft.com/enc/index2.htm?..
/monzo/boethius/greek-letter/boethius_greek_notation.htm

(you have to delete the line-break in that last link)

if you snoop around in the Encyclopaedia, you might find
some other ancient/ethnic stuff ... in particular, there's
my "Speculations on Sumerian tunings". i'm firmly convinced
that the Sumerians knew so-called "Pythagorean" tuning,
and believe that it's possible they may have even discovered
12-tET as long ago as 3000 BC.

Hi Chris,

I expect that you know about SCALA and its archive of thousands
of scales with ratios and cents values, and I expect Monz
and Johnny are taking it for granted that you know about it,
but just in case you haven't come across it yet:

Scala home page:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~huygensf/scala/

What are you using them for out of interest?

***Hi Johnny,

The Jorgensen has only Western tunings of the 18th and 19th century,
unless there is another volume that I don't have...

best,
