Paul Erlich, for writing papers that turn the world
on its ear--
--or is it turn on the World to its ears?

Paul not only spearheaded the biggest leap in music theory
since Adriaan Fokker, he wrote three world-class papers
that present it in a way equally useful to music theorists,
musicians, and 2.5 curious persons.

But yes, they're awarded on line, and meant to
give credit where credit is seldom given on
these lists.

The timing is funny, though. Jon gets his just when he decided to shut
down MMM, and Paul while he is gone. I think the brass statuettes
haven't come yet and Carl is covering until they do.
