Paul, Gene, Joe: about tuning_files

Boys,

Anything after this I'll post on meta or write privately, but we've got to get this thing fixed. Paul, I've just 'joined' tuning_files, but my membership awaits approval. If you are the moderator and have set it up this way, be sure to check on it and approve it post haste. Once I've gotten notification I'll try posting a file.

If this doesn't work I say delete the group and we'll start a new one for storage. It can be done easily.

Cheers,
Jon

The archives also need to be public, and not for-members-only.

i don't know what you mean. currently, it says:

Files / Photos : Public (anyone, including non-members, can view
files)

and these are the folders which we will be using, right?

OK,

I joined. I was approved. I've uploaded a file:

"... a notification to let you know that a file has been uploaded to the Files area of the tuning_files group."

You can access this file at the URL:
/tuning/files/szanto/bgcd078.mp3

Other than the delay for being approved (which I actually like, since it helps keep trolls and spammers at bay), the process worked as I've expected any other Yahoo group to work. Gene, if you are still having problems it does seem to be on your end; Paul, are you the moderator?

Cheers,
Jon

No, Paul approved me too. I suggest Paul pick someone else to
co-moderate, and that you do that for MMM if you haven't already;
having only one moderator is asking for trouble.

Gene,

Then you have some serious problems. There is no reason you should not be able to upload files, access stuff, etc.

Someone with website expertise, maybe...

MMM was set up with three people to work on it, and basically maintains that posture. Naturally, I reserve the right to bring the whole house of cards crashing down any time I see fit. :)

This is all *way* too much trouble just to get more file space; it can, and should be, a piece of cake. Try accessing the site from another browser, platform, or just simply try subscribing again or something...

Cheers,
Jon

I can. It's just that before when I tried this, he didn't.

I believe it's Hungarian music - my roots are showing. I picked it up one night surfing for Hungarian recordings, and damn if I can find a reference for *what* album it was from! Off to try googling the file...

If you find out, pls. post. I can def. believe Hungarian. My grand-
father was quite handy with all manners of button boxes, and liked to
play "slavic" and "hungarian" tunes, which were always awesome. Even
though he had nothing but German and/or Finnish roots that I know of.

***This sounds a little like "Bela Bartok meets Ornette
Coleman..." :) Great.
