Call to organize File section

All;

Can we take a moment to clean up the Files section? It
would free up space for stuff, and make it easier to
find stuff.

() Put all your files in a folder with your name on it.

() Delete stuff that isn't necessary. For example, do
we really need...

/tuning/files/terrain/terrain1.jpg

...and...

/tuning/files/terrain/terrain1.bmp

...? That's up to Jon to decide. But please ask yourself
this sort of question.

Hi Carl

> Can we take a moment to clean up the Files section?

Actually it was my first time visiting this section today. I created
my file called, "Lepore, Walter".

I was also wondering why last names aren't listed first i.e. Doe,
John instead of John Doe. It would sure be easier to find members by
last name.

Although its not a big deal at this point. There aren't that many
folders to search at this point in time.

Just a thought.

Regards
Walter

Heya Walter,

Just so you know, my rant wasn't because of your activity
today. I just happened to be in there myself.

Your suggestion of putting last names first is a fine one,
but I'd be very happy just to get the binaries out of the
root directory!

hi carl, we've been making repeated requests to the list moderator to
help us do so. i have been completely unable to delete most of my
older files, no matter how i mess with my membership parameters. the
moderator said he was going to help me do this right after deleting
some spam links. the spam links are still there, and the moderator
has not communicated with us since.

***You know, maybe if we ever hear from him again, he should
designate some kind of "proxy" moderators. I know these kinds of
things are possible in the Yahoo interface: there, apparently are
several possibilites and "authorities" for things, as I recall...

I walk down the street, asking myself all kinds of questions. But beyond that, *I* don't believe I have any files online. If I do, they are files that I did for someone else's project, and this terrain one makes me think I squished a file for Paul.

I'll take a look, but if *me* is the *Jon* you meant, I don't have any files to cull from the list...

Cheers,
Jon

Sorry, that was aimed at Jon Wild, who found it.

The owner can make someone else a moderator. In fact, he can make
someone else the owner, even without asking. Paul did that do me on
tuning-math, and after thinking about the situation I made some people
into moderators. Because of the great tradition we've established on
tuning-math, I didn't ask either. For all I know some of our
moderators don't know yet they are moderators.
