New mp3s - problems streaming

Is anyone else having difficulty streaming mp3s? I can't access two of
the latest offerings, Prent Rogers' and David Beardsley's and it looks
as if there's a change in the appearance of the site. I'm using Netscape
4.61 which is pretty old by now. Any solutions welcome.

I went to mp3.com to check it out (I had downloaded Prent's directly from his site). I was redirected to a 'membership' page, which I had previously filled out, and just reinserted the bogus contact information (mp3.com are notorious spammers...) and was taken back to Prent's page. The lo-fi streaming seemed to work just fine in both my latest Opera browser (6.05) and IE (6.0.26).

If you need to upgrade your browser, I would highly recommend Opera (www.opera.com) - it's either free or low-cost, has plenty of options to make surfing faster (good for those on dial-up lines with high per-minute rates), and seems to work just fine.

Write me privately if you need help beyond the above...

Cheers,
Jon

***My guess as well is that mp3.com isn't keeping up their Netscape
compatibilities, maybe for the earlier versions... (that was maybe
implicit in Jon's lack of mentioning Netscape...)

Works find on Internet Explorer 6.0.

: Alison Monteith <alison.monteith3@w...> had problems with MP3.com.

MP3.com can be a challenge. I can't stream from them either for some
reason. Try to download the song, or if that fails, go to my web site
and find the Mirror Walk page. You can download the whole song there
using right mouse click, save to file. This should work. I can only
post one at a time there, and it does not track the number of
downloads, but it has the nice attribute of actually working.

Prent has more than enough to download, convert to a wav file, and stick on a disk; in fact you could make it a 2-disker. It's interesting to hear it all at once.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice on browser issues and mp3s. I
tried to upgrade Netscape but (again) the download failed to install. I
might switch to Explorer once I figure out how to import bookmarks from
Netscape.

Kind Regards

A quicker alternative might be to install Winamp, which is what
I use at home with a modem. It's easy and has always worked for me.
