Hi Joel,

Thanks for this link. It's bound to be controversial (and probably
misunderstood as well), but the bit about being 'alchemically
transformed by the context' is absolutely golden and really hits the
nail on the head as far as I'm concerned: That being that the
difference between consonance-dissonance and concordance-discordance
is a colossal one, and that this difference hinges on music--dare I
say art!

take care,

--Dan Stearns

anyone has an e-mail address for Werntz? She might be willing to

You then have to do a search on Werntz AND author. What you then get
to is a page that, if you select (IIRC) the abstract and citation, a
bunch of thumbnail images, and when you click on them you get each
page at a time reproduced as a .gif file. Nuts.

There is an icon and link for downloading as a .pdf, but it is not
activated. I wonder if one needs to pay or be a member, etc...

At one point Paul Erlich was in contact with her but I don't know if
it was through email, phone, or in person.

Jon

***I have her e-mail address and she wrote me a lengthy objection to
my objections. I started to post it here, but then realized that she
might not like that, so e-mail me privately and I'll give you Julie's
address.
