Hello list. I'm new here.
Just wanted to mention that in Native Instruments synth FM7 custom
tuning is beautifully implemented.
I didn't see anything better in softsynth so far.
It's strange that this synth never mentioned on this list.
Just my 2 cents.

Welcome. I was a bit disappointed, I thought we were going to talk about an
F major 7th. BAAAA.

I've never even heard of Native Instruments.

Since you mentioned "2 cents" I thought to ask the question that I would,
what's the resolution of it? As in, 100 notes per semitone (cents offset),
64 notes per semitone, etc?

We're all new somewhere! Welcome to this particular place...

Well, I think it has been mentioned, but there was a fairly in depth
discussion of this with one of the developers in one of our side-
lists, Making Microtonal Music. The thread starts here:

/makemicromusic/topicId_1954.html#1954

I haven't used any of the NI widgets, but I think one of the
problems, for at least some of the people here, is that the NI
instruments only retuned *within* an octave, as opposed to having 128-
note retuning capability. In any event, you can check out that thread
for details.

Cheers,
Jon

Thanks for the link and info.
It really helped.
Ah! What times we live in! -It would take me forever to learn so much
just few years ago(before the age of internet).

*really excited* Pasport :)

:)
The resolution is +/- 100 cents(slider for each note in "Pitch" menu)
BTW they got demo version for both PC and MAC

Thanks for the heads up. I had an early version of generator,
but their copy protection scheme (involving floppies) and the
fact that it was a little ahead of its time hardware-wise, led
me to abandon it.

Have you tried midicode? www.midicode.com

NI Pro-52 tuning support is even better, look it up too.
It uses a text file format (*.p5m), I don't exactly know it's
resolution, but it does support floating point, I think it goes well
beyond 100 cents per note, still 12 notes tho... eg.

24-Arabic Diatonic;Maqam Rast;Quasi-equal Heptatonic.p5m

PRO52TUNEMAP1
; Produced by the Mode Fecker software
; Based on SCALA libraries
; adapted/programmed by Guiseppi Mendoza
;
C=0
D=-0.31787
E=-0.97135
F=-0.01955
G=0.01955
A=-0.29832
B=-0.9518

(If you multiply the values by 100, it gives the cent value)
(this is a mapping to white keys only, a 7-tone mode)
And no, I haven't released the Mode Fecker software, but it is working
for the Pro-52 (nearly debuggered)

Screenshot here tho...
http://www.mendozadil.freeserve.co.uk/ModeFecker.gif

It should let one try out many tuning and mode combinations, about
~260,000 I think, from 7 to 183 tone modes/tunings (though don't know
how useful this is >:)
Cool name, huh ;)
