solo guitar improvisations

Several people emailed me telling me that they couldn't get these to
open, and someone suggested making sure that my email address was
verified with Yahoo. Well, I did that, and apparently the access
denied problem has disappeared and the tracks are now downloadable--I
sure hope so, and my apologies for any inconvenience.

Here's the address again

While this is not traditional jazz guitar playing, the first one is a
barnburner and the second a ballad in pretty much the usual fashion.

I make no apologies however for this not being traditional jazz guitar
playing, because to my way of thinking this is music making in one of
its more basic and honest forms--how one shapes fresh ideas and motifs
into narratives with forward motion in real time on an instrument.

take care,

*****Hi Dan!

Now it says that the Internet site is "overloaded..."

Do you think your "wild" playing overloaded the system?? :)

Maybe you should go back to mp3.com! :)

Or, how about uploading to the files area here or Jon Szanto's
microtonal.org site??

best,

Joe

Joe,

Well, they're 12-tet, so I guess I'd have to put them on Johnny
Reinhard's microtonal.org instead--now there's a seriously double
inside joke!

Anyway, I just tried again and all seems well--I right click
SoloGuitar_1 or SoloGuitar_2, and save to my desktop and abracadabra,
all's well with the world (or at least with Yahoo for a change).

take care,

Ha!

Well, I bet the way you play in 12-tET could convince people
that "alternate tunings" are not even necessary... :)

Maybe, in some instances, they're *not!* :)

Still, I'd enjoy hearing the stuff and it's not working for me...

:( (oh... I get to use a stupid "sad" emoticon... never get to do
that...)

Hi Dan,

I know you were joking, but it reminds me that I have a new piece for a
6-string conventional guitar for June 1st. However, it does not sound it at
all.

The guitarist, Harris Becker, could play it at sight, but he never could
navigate the open string tunings. We will get together soon on this. I had
set it up so that I could do it but apparently, it's not the same for him.

Best, Johnny Reinhard
