PRETTIER DISSONANCE CURVE (for Margo and the List)

(Margo, I wonder if this could serve as a useful dissonance curve for
you, at least for some harmonic timbres. As there may be a local
minimum at every rational number, there may also be an infinite
number of local maxima within any finite region, so the question of
whether there is a local maximum around 423 cents becomes moot.
However, you can see that, according to this curve, the most
dissonant intervals between 5:4 and 9:7 do occur at around 423 cents,
so this curve may depict your perceptions well. Note also that 14:11
and even more complex ratios have a small but unmistakable "valley"
associated with them, honoring your use of such ratios as "reference
points" if not outright tuning goals. Let me know what you think.)
