Proxo blocks all (remaining) Ads

At around 1:00 AM PST this morning, I decided to try Proxomitron 4.0. It (appeared) to block all of the (in-message) Yahoo Ads (not sure now, since I did not subsequently disable the Proxomitron to retest without it). I figured - what are the chances that the (in-message) ads "just disappeared? Confident that while "Murphy" (of "Murphy's Law) has often plauged me (it seems), it was just *too* unlikely - so I didn't verify it ... Duh.

A couple hours hours later I noticed that Proxo 4 was "also" nixing all other Yahoo ads (something which I *know* to be true), so I made a second post to that effect.

After reading Joe Pehrson's post I disabled Proxo 4, and (of course) the (in-message) ads were not there to be foiled...!

The good news is that they have (for now) pulled their (in- message) ads (it seems). More good news is that Proxo 4 is blocking all other Yahoo ads, and if the (in-message) ads are reinstated, it *MAY* be that they, too, *will* be successfully blocked by Proxo 4, as well. Wish that I had been able to try Proxo 4 at a time prior to the (unannounced) rescinding of the (in-message) ads... Now I'm just not certain whether it would, and (once again) humbled by "Murphy" for "talkin" prior to "checkin".

A recent look at /tuning/topicId_31206.html#31221
shows that, despite Yahoo appearing to pull the (in-mesage) ads, the display formatting is still FUBARRED. Restoring that would have been "too good to be true", I guess...

I got Proxomitron to block the in-message ad, but I had to tell it to do so.

J Gill: Around 1:00 PM today I had a single (nonrepeated) Yahoo (in message)... ADVERTISEMENT ... "pop-up".

Now at 8:00 PM, the ADS are back with vengeance!

Gene,

I've tried to tweak *all* of the "Web Page Filters" in the Proxomitron 4.0 pertaing to both "banners" and "pop-ups", to NO AVAIL.

I was wondering what settings you may have found to successfully block the (in-message) ADS (the others, at the top of the message header list pages, seem to be managable with Proxo 4.0's default settings)???

Strangely, I don't see any at all! What time zone are you in? It's 11
o'clock Eastern time.

J Gill: Pacific Standard Time (and I *know* that I also saw a single ad "pop-up" only ONCE at about 4:00 PM (your time) today.

I edited the file in the directory called "lists" named "KillImages.txt" so that groups.yahoo.com was on it.
