Dave Keenan and I, so it seems, are busy testing and deleting our
posts.

Apparently the "new improved" Yahoo insists on left-aligning
everything. Short of putting in a string of leading characters (just
one won't work... Dave found out... there seems to be no solution.

We both also tried the HTML tag <PRE> </PRE> to no avail...

So I guess if anybody posts *charts* this is something to keep in
mind... Obviously the posts should be checked, since they aren't
always coming out as intended...

Hopefully this (end-around solution below) works...

Paul,

I was just about to press "Post" to test my modified diagram (below),
when I saw your solution (above). Man, your fingers must have been
flying (lots of prior paractice, eh?)... :)

There must be a better way. Obviously this solution isn't going to
work very well for diagrams that contain horizontal lines.

Evidently, Pierre knows about something (perhaps multiple things) of
which we do not know...

Note that, upon replying (and thus quoting) the diagram, the
Yahoo "engine of formatical tyranny" has struck, once again.

Nevertheless, achieving what Pierre has in his original post is
notable. So... how *did* you do it, Pierre?

I simply colored lines in white.

As long as you can view HTML mail, that works great! I still think a .gif
file is the best bet, though not the easiest. Or a .doc or .rtf, where you
can set your own formatting, fonts, size etc.

I guess simple .doc or .txt files stored in the "files" area is the
only way to go now. Dommage...

The problem I see with .doc is that such a file could be in a format that
some or many of us can't read. A Word XP document, for example. I'm not
sure if a free Word XP Viewer is available for download; I never bothered to
check. I just have Windows XP, and it comes with WordPad, which only
handles .rtf (rich text format) and .txt (plain text: normal, MS-DOS and
Unicode format) files. I have no idea which file types can be easily
viewed/edited by Macintosh operating systems (other than .txt, of course).

I did just think of another solution: tables in .html format. That might be
messy, and you have to either learn HTML code or get a webpage editor.

Hi Danny...

Jon Szanto is right. They should be in PLAIN ascii .txt...

Forget about .doc. Plain ASCII .txt is the only way to go, because
it's universally readable *and* takes up very little space.
