Blackjack for real guitar and bass

Well, it has taken longer than I thought to get to this point, but I
am ready to build a Blackjack guitar and bass. I have the instruments,
they are now fretless and I am ready to begin slotting for frets, but
I am unsure which variation to use. I would love to be able to tune
the strings in fourths. Is this reasonable? Also, I haven't been
monitoring the list at all for a while, so I am sure I missed out on
quite a bit. Is there some agreement on how a guitar should be laid
out?

Thanks, Dave. Does that mean I will actually have to read and think?

The first one is the one that's tuned in standard 12-tET guitar
tuning (just use the bottom four strings for bass), so I think it's
the one you want. It gives you a full Canasta scale, which includes
11 different transpositions of the Blackjack scale. However, given
that we seem to be adopting a Blackjack standard that isn't one of
these 11 transpositions, and given that I'll be away from my MATLAB
until next week, I'll have to ask Dave Keenan to modify this so that
it's compatible with our new standard (or you can wait for me to do
it next week).

To my knowledge, after reading the most recent posts, the "new
standard" hasn't really been decided upon yet... Correct, Paul?

Right. I think a bass player would be happiest with the unique
transposition of Blackjack that contains the 12-tET E, A, D, and
G . . .
