Paul and Joseph here . . .

Paul:

We're having fun studying Graham Breed's Blackjack progression --
playing it on the keyboard, mapping it on the lattice . . .

Joseph:

This is TERRIFIC, since we can find a WHOLE NEW harmony in these
methods.... Got it!

We need to STANDARDIZE the notation, however...

Come on, Monz!!!

Hey, my suggestions for standardized 72-EDO notation are
amply documented in the archives of this list. And the
more I think about it, the less likely I am to chuck it
and join the rest of you. Sorry. I've already been using
it in my own scores and I'm not going to rewrite them now.

(Wish I could have been in NYC to join in the fun! Well...
actually I had quite a remarkable weekend myself. Hasn't
anyone here even *mentioned* the Partch centennial celebration
at UCLA on Saturday?... and that was just the beginning of
my holiday fun!...)

Give 'us' a bit of a break, Joe! Some of 'us' were still in LA,
breaking down displays and collecting instruments, and today was the
first day of a breather in weeks. See the post I just uploaded, and
I'll have a roundup on the site by mid-week.

The Partch site that is, http://www.corporeal.com/ otherwise known as
Corporeal Meadows, for those of you who didn't know. Lots to come in
the next few weeks...

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Sorry if it seemed that I offended you... that was certainly
not my intent. Was just a bit surprised that in 100 or so
posts that I received since seeing you Saturday, no-one here,
until your post came along, has said anything about it.
Looking forward to the recap on Corporeal Meadows. It was
a special treat to see/hear and meet Bob Gilmore.

(*Very* sorry that I missed the presentation given by you
and Danlee. If I had driven up myself, as originally intended,
I would have caught the entire day.)

No, Joe, not at all! I wasn't bent out of shape or anything, and the
quotes were just an afterthought! No offense taken...

Maybe they weren't there. Of the people I actually know from this
list, the only one I actually recognized and talked to (besides
yourself) was Bill Alves, and he's on "holiday" from the list for now.

He's a gem, no?

Won't be the last time, and we're going to do a multimedia version
for the site in the near future. It was great fun to do with 5 other
Partch veterans (including Emil Richards) and will be refined and
performed again...

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Monz...

Yes, that would have been fun if you had been there and Reinhard had
been in the country too... like last time!

Sorry you can't "convert..." I understand your feelings since you've
been working with this so long.

Anyway, we'll have to carefully use "legends" then..

I believe Erlich, Keenan and I will be using the "revised" notation...

Dave Keenan seems to be accepting it...

best,
