Is Paul really banned??

🔗jpehrson@rcn.com

I can't access so-called "practicalmicrotonality" pish, right now,
but it is REALLY true that Paul has been banned??

If so, I would like to say that I find that entirely undemocratic.

I think I will go over there and filibuster and spam until I, too, am
banned.

What a jerky thing...

It was down for 12 hours. Back up now.

Joseph, groups are not democracies. Might seem harsh but it is the
moderator's prerogative to invite, accept, and ban whom he will. If
he wants a practicallynopaulality list, that's his business, whether
we like it or not. Might you consider talking to him off list about
it?

Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to

You don't want to get banned from Yahoo! Groups altogether, do you? I
don't want you to. You're too nice a guy. Get ahold of youself, man.

This is ridiculous!

This is general Yahoo policy:
----------------------------------
What can I do about a member of my group who is sending inappropriate
messages?
If you are not the moderator of the group, contact the moderator and alert
him/her to the problem. If you are the moderator, you have several options:
As a first step, send a warning message to the member.
If the member continues to send inappropriate messages, you can turn off
their ability to post to the group.
You can unsubscribe the member by setting this option in the Subscriber
section of the Members area.
You can permanently ban the member by entering their email address in the
Banned section of the Members area.
You can unsubscribe the author of an offensive message through the Message
View on the group's message board.
---------------------------------------------

Paul, what obscene postings did you do there? And what warning did you get
before they were forced to take this measure?

That practical micro thing is advertised as an open, unmoderated group.

Well if its not a democracy, then it's totalitarian or fascist. One who runs
such a group shows his (true) ass, so to speak, in spite of all the
touchy-feely and gushing talk he may post.

And why, pray tell, would anyone want to exclude such an active and
knowledgeable microtonalist from their "microtonality" group? Must be some
kind of pathetic ego thing, unfortunately not the first time this particular
kind of neurosis would be played out in a group setting.

I'm still hoping that there has been some kind of technical glitch, and
actually noone has been banned. Unfortunately the silence of the so-called
list owner on this matter speaks volumes.

If you play Purple Haze in 22 backwards,
it says "Paul is banned, miss him, miss him."

You will find that Paul is a very generous person who gives his time
freely. He is also a brilliant mind, and you are lucky to be in
contact with him. Make the most of it before he disappears!

Dante,

I understand how upsetting this situation is, esp. to those of us who
love Paul E. and are deeply grateful for his role here. My personal
feelings about that are better known that perhaps I even intended for
them to be. (Strange how things work out sometimes!)

Just the same, do you happen to be familiar with the logical fallacy
known as the "false dilemma"? I respectfully request that you
consider each of your statements above in that light.

Thanks.

David F.
