a duel

I am enjoying the lively exchange between Reinhard and Szanto, which
gave me an idea...how about an old fashioned duel, but with modern
weapons? I think a ray gun that fires deadly beams of microtones would
be a gas...you can tune it to whatever scale you want, and whoever
succumbs to the other's tuning has to play Partch in 12 eq at the
opposing feller's Microtonal festival...what do you gentlemen's say to
that? Think of the press it would bring to the Microtonal
movement...Hstick

Love it. How about we keep it in bounds, and sling empty bottles
of "Old Heaven Hill" (or some suitably cheap bourbon) at each other;
ammo stocks can only be replenished by draining the contents
personally.

Side note: in my current personal interest in Woodie Guthrie, I found
(in Joe Klein's excellent autobiography) that Woodie had a radio show
broadcast out of a radio station in Tijuana, and spent the days in
Chula Vista, not many miles from where Partch would end up. The
kicker is that in a photograph of the band outside the studio in
Baja, there is what appears to be a rack of liquor bottles among the
instruments, which may make it a precursor to the Xymo-Zyl.

Bottle on,
Jon

This is truly excellent... I forgot about Partch's affair with the
bottle... It means that the Claremont Inn really WAS a good
microtonal spot, after all: there were beer bottles strewn all over
the halls!
