Btw:
I'd never think of looking for 'o:' or 'o�' and I'm quite used to
different transcription systems or habits.
Standard transcriptions for letters as
� = ae, � = oe, � = ue
� = ss (or more seldom 'sz')
will make retrieval and finding easier, because they are widely known
and accepted. (like in this subject line).

For the scandinavian languages additionally
� = oe, � = aa
are frequently used (� ? - maybe 'ae', too?).

Quite frankly, I also find Monz' new procedure of putting the umlaut
to the right side of a letter disconcerting. It looks like there's
some kind of colon-- compound phrase. I believe Ibo Ortgies is
correct that the accepted "standard transcriptions" would be a better
idea...
