PRINCIPLE OF ARTISTIC FREEDOM DEAD IN AMERICA

this is the last straw, american metatuners.

war or no war, this should enrage any true "patriot", one who
believes in what america stands for.

let us all write our congressmen, stage public protests and acts of
civil disobedience, do whatever it takes to voice our dissent at how
truly "un-american" our government and its actions have become.

we should not stand for this state of affairs!!

it's an NGO (non-governmental organization).

check out the various links. this is a very extensive webpage that
takes itself very seriously. here's the director of this
organization, you may want to contact her and ask her yourself:

http://www.hscb.org/cpmletter.htm

here's the (really frightening) history of this organization:

http://www.hscb.org/res-chats-ashcroft.htm

lots more links on this site to check out . . .

check out the website's "quotes of the week". they include these two
gems from george w. bush:

"We often talk of a new world characterized by competition and
enterprise, but our kids will not enjoy full lives if they don't
experience and appreciate art. A life without art is flat and dull
and gray. And it contains none of the highs and lows that give
meaning to daily affairs."
-George Bush
Remarks at the Presentation Ceremony for the National Medal of the
Arts

"The terrorist attacks mean the United States should re-examine its
culture. I see, out of this sadness and grief, an opportunity for
America to re-examine our culture, to re-examine how we view our oil
interests, whether it be in our own neighborhood or around the world.
We have to take advantage of the third world countries, today more
than ever."
- George Bush on Culture and the Terrorist Attacks

"oil interests" -- a freudian slip? "take advantage of the the the
third world countries" -- indeed!

in fact, if the second quote above was all i saw, i would indeed
think this was a parody -- but the rest of the website doesn't
support that view, unfortunately.

dear friends,

it has come to our attention that the white box gallery in ny has
perpetrated a highly un-professional, elaborate, but ultimately
amateurish hoax on the arts community.

we have expressed our disgust to the gallery for preying on
everyone's fears and i hope you will take the time to do so, as well.

please forward your complaints to:

side street apologizes for any inconvenience this mis-information may
have caused you. based upon the emails i have received, thousands of
the best and brightest in the art community were duped... so at least
we're in good company :)

best wishes,

jon

And an excellently constructed one, at that. Congrats, Flip Petit.

Un-professional? Amateurish? Bull. With the minimum of real content, by merely hinting at what artists sense is coming, they evoked a spasm of fear and disgust in the art community. This is cultural impressionism, and pretty well done. Congrats to the perps for preying on the arts communities fears. The next incident will not be a drill.

John!
They have no need to take such methods. Art is pretty much been neutered as a voice.
I mean could Harry Partch or George Crumb, or Morton Subotnick get signed to Columbia now
or any other label? Don't think so. This at a time where such things are cheaper than before
How about Beefhart? Moondog?
Can you see even Philip Glass on Regis or Letterman, yet they present music acts that one never hears from again.
I remember Cliburn performing some prepared piano on Dick Cavett.
We are foreigners and are treated as such. although we have the occasional "splash" when someone upsets enough people,
yet this brings cash for the artist while serving as copy to dismiss art in general. Cover it up QUICK
It seemed that with this recent statute in reference to the WTC victims who jumped not one of them noticed the resemblance to
the bodies in Pompeii. I am sure none of them have seen them.

fortunately I will have the opportunity to take all my money out of the stock market in a few months. Sure i will lose from what it was. I recommend everyone one the same
We are investing in your own oppression.

***Hi Kraig!

You're obviously talking about the statue that was recently removed
from Rockefeller center... You know, I never thought of the Roman
resemblence until you mentioned it...

The "plot" thickens...
