This is rather amazing. If true, it goes to explain
some things.

thanks jeff. unfortunately the culture of teaching children, from day
one, to kill themselves in the fight against infidels, is a painful
reality in that part of the world. it is too bad the new york times
and other american media choose to ignore this aspect of the
situation in their coverage, leaving the american public with a
grossly misinformed view of the events in the region.

***Hi Paul.

Actually, I believe the Times *did* cover this in a very frightening
edition of its "Nation Challenged" section.

It was all about the education of young people in the Islamic world
by religious schools which, apparently, is all there is in some areas.

The thought that we will have to live with these people well beyond
the length of most of our lives (even *you* Paul! :) ) is *very*
disconcerting...

Paul & Joe,

I'm glad someone else sees there is a connection
between this sort of thing and what is going in the
world. Unfortunately, it seems some people just don't
get it. I guess a parallel situation would be if you
imagined some sort of group of radical racial
supremists holed up in a compound in Wyoming, showing
their children cartoons encouraging them to slaughter
the evil members of the hated other races, whose
alleged crimes and evil-deeds were memorialized in
various stories and songs the children were required to
learn. Imagine 18 years of such exposure with no
exposure to any other viewpoint. It's self-evident that
it would be enough to produce some real crazy people,
detached from reality, and perhaps incurable psychotic.
Who would we blame for such a situation if the young
adult then went on a suicidal killing spree. Obviously
the parents that showed the films, the people who made
the films, and the people who knew what was going on
and didn't want to get involved or say the truth. Those
would be the ones seen as the real abusers.

Also, obviously the way to stop the violence would be
to recognize that the parents were abusing the children
with this level of propaganda and the responsible thing
to do would be to come into the cult compound and put
an end to the videos, the hate literature, and to take
the children away from their parents and give them a
chance to learn about reality. I hardly ever think a
government should get involved in taking kids away from
their parents or getting involved in their upraising
but I can see that parents indoctrinating their
children in a virulent hatred for other groups and
actively encouraging psychotic acts of violence is an
extreme form of child abuse that needs to be stopped
immediately once it is recognized.

- Jeff

We might want to consider the situation of our media and entertainment
that the solutions to problems are always military ones. Are we just more
refined in our brain washing or not!

yes, i remember this being discussed.

however, what i'm referring to is not restricted to the religious
schools, since it's on television (see above), and also similar
incitements are found in the standard palestinian schoolbooks
(funded, by the way, by the european union).
