Hello,

Divide by Pi's CD is now up at 2 places:

www.cdbaby.com/dividebypi
www.dividebypi.com/album

Some of you mentioned preferring purchasing a set of mp3 files. Anyone know
which website(s) would get me started with that process?

Best,

Aaron Krister Johnson

***Hello Aaron!

Well, it depends on what *model* you're looking at.

Soundclick, where I have my own music:

http://www.soundclick.com/

has a good amount of traffic. I get 200 or so persons trying out my
music there every month.

The only *downside* is if you want your mp3s to be *commercial*, and
you want to charge for a download.

Personally, I've stayed away from that, mostly due to various
problems I would encounter with rights from performers were I to
shift to a commerce model...

However, other people, working in electronic realms or playing their
own music have found other sources.

Jeff Harrington likes ampcast:

http://www.ampcast.com/

You can charge there for mp3s...

And a composer/violist friend Lev Zhurbin has found a new site *he*
likes:

http://www.lulu.com/ljova

(I can't say his prices are too extreme... 35 cents, 50 cents... :)

And Harrington also recommends "electronicscene..."

http://electronicscene.com/

It's possible to charge for mp3s there as well...

The old mp3.com, now run by cnet, is going to have a new service, but
it looks non-commercial...

http://music.download.com/

My *own* personal feeling is that there are going to be *more and
more* of these sites...

Whatever model you choose, however, I would make it possible to
*download* in any case:

1) Some people don't have the bandwidth... and even more importantly

2) The small mp3 players are really what's going to eventually
replace the CDs, so I personally believe the future is in those
devices and a site should be set up to be usable by them....

best,

J. Pehrson
