Pardon the cross posting
Thought some might be interested in Some MP3 excerpts from . The Stolen
Stars: An Anaphorian dance drama. the tuning is Meta slendro but the
first uses only a seven tone subset while the latter uses 12 pitches in
the bass range (The Meru Bars) invoked through the use of
horogram rhythms

or one can access both through

Thanks Paul!
The bowed strings are two bowed psaltries. They are remarkable quality and made by a
place called Omega strings, which is one man about 70 miles west of me. I happen to run
accross one of his instruments in a shop and was so impressed with how much louder it was
than any i had heard that i called him up. To build ones instruments is one thing, but if
you find some one who does better than you know you can do, it seems best to patronize
their work. he has wanted to make bass instruments but hasn't done so yet. The stay
pretty well in tune unlike many of this family.

Steel strings I presume. Got any pics and what kind of bows do you use? I
have 4 bowed koto/zithers about to be stringed and realise that there's as
much in the bow as in the box.

Love the music.

Hello Alison!
bows can be seen here
http://www.eee.org/bus/omega/acc.htm
easy links to the instruments

I also have looked at the harmonization material reproduced in Chalmers book and
haven't noticed a particular easy code to break besides trail and error .
I will try to ask Erv.
The tetrachords you have are quite unusual which makes me think the numbers
will be high. I notice that the chord second from the bottom alway includes a
notes from both upper and lower tetrachords. Often though if the 3/2 is held the
4/3 is not included in any of the chords!? which means not all the tones are
harmonized or you need to use both the harmonic and subharmonic solutions to get
them all.

Hi--

I've check out Omega's website and these look pretty good--thinking of
ordering one. Did you order the standard models or did you have something
custom made?

Thanks,

Stan

Hello Stan!
I got the regular model, actually 2 which added up to a hefty sum. (I was
overworking at the time) I believe he said you can trade one in for one of the
lower models which i moght do some day. I also talked to him about a much lower
instrument that he was up to but said obviously , it can take up to three tries to
work all the kinks out of a new extended design. The longer i have them the more
stable the pitch seems to be but i don't change tunings all the time on them,
keeping them just where they are.
