SCALA - Chromatic Clavier

Hi Jacky,

You _must_ try out the SCALA chromatic clavier.

Where else can you get to play a 217-et keyboard,
or keyboards for 10-et, 16-et, the BP keyboards,
the Arabic 17 tone scale, etc? All in one place
and you can quickly swap from one to another to
compare.

You can play chords using Shift + click on the
notes in turn, and click on a note a second time
to switch it off, so that one can play a diad and
then try out various third notes with it to complete
the triad, and so forth.

He also has lattice keyboards and for those ones
you can drag the mouse in a curve across the keyboard
to make chords too. Then he has an innovative
triad player too.

Great fun! Not to be missed!

Robert

***Hi Jacky!

Yes, I was trying this too, now. I makes it worthwhile to upgrade to
Scala 2.5!

It does, of course, "fabricate" the notation of the pitches and
the "diatonic" collection.

For example, in the Blackjack scale I use, it somehow found an entire
*diatonic collection* of white notes C-C, where we *know* that
Blackjack only has four "white notes" C - G - D - A!

But, as we know from discussions on the other list, a "universal"
microtonal notation for *all* microtonal music is a tall order...

***Hi Jacky!

I suppose I could do that from an *implementation* point of view,
although Paul Erlich and Dave Keenan, who actually created this
system might do a better job from the purely *technical* end...

***Also, Jacky, for the time being, don't forget to refer them to
Monz page which does a pretty good job of it:

http://www.ixpres.com/interval/monzo/blackjack/blackjack.htm

It needs to be "updated" though, since we're using a different *key*
now!
