So for some reason I didn't know this list existed.

So I'm here now.

So hi.

(I can tell it's going to be a strange birthday...)

We're clothed in that cool black metal that deflects radar.

There you go.

Yep: you're actually one year younger now, and a very cool trend has been started...

Hi All;

I hope this is not off base or redundant... can anyone point me in
the direction of Pythagoras work with music?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hmmm... While I agree in principle with this, maybe it would be better for the moderator(s) of the list to make these kind of assessments. If nothing else, we needn't make a newcomer feel like they've already made some gross kind of error.

While Kevin can probably find more info from the ATL on the subject (if people would just wake up), don't forget that there are people surfing that come across MMM before ATL, and maybe to them this is the place to start.

Cheers,
Jon

Thanks: sorry I didn't know there was another group. I had done a
search on Pythagorian tuning but came up empty. I am now on ALT. I
look forward to learning all I can here though. I have listened to
some of the files, and enjoy the work. It's an amazing life.

Peace,

Kevin

That's odd -- maybe it's because you spelled it as above in the
search? Here's the first thing I get when I search for it in Google,
and I happen to know this article very well. I recommend it highly:

Thanks Paul, that is exactly what I am looking for. I must have mis-
spelled. Cheers, Kevin

You're welcome, Kevin,

I also recommend that you have a look at Margo Schulter's article
Pythagorean Tuning and Medieval Polyphony.

http://www.medieval.org/emfaq/harmony/pyth.html

And Joe Monzo's Tonalsoft Encyclopaedia of Tuning

http://www.tonalsoft.com/enc/pythag.htm

Then there is Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_tuning

There are many more references and I am surprised that other members
of the group have not posted their suggestions. The list has gone very
quiet at the moment for some reason. You may wish to try posting your
original query to tuning@yahoogroups.com

Best wishes,
Peter

Thanks again Peter. This is the food my brain needs!
Perhaps everyone is out enjoying the Spring weather.
Take care, and talk with you soon.
