nice piece! something really struck me as i listened to it . . .

remember the other day, i wrote a couple of posts in the "24tET"
thread to the big list, which you really liked? i mentioned
the whole business about how i found it difficult to work thru
the Maneri 72edo book *without* feeling the rational implications.

well . . . i get a real sense of the same thing happening here
too. blackjack is crammed full of so many nice buzzy ~JI
consonances that it seems like you couldn't avoid them if
you tried! i'd like to get your response to this.

good work!

BTW . . . what does the title mean, if anything?

****Hi Monz!

Well, when working with this piece I was *always* fully conscious of
the "close to Just Intonation" sonorities because I had the lattice
in front of me, and developed the harmonies, even the more extended
ones, while referencing the lattice.

My earlier xenharmonic pieces were mostly done only by "ear" but this
one was a lot different (hopefully I used my ears, too! :)

This piece was "plotted out" almost as much as a "serial" piece would
be... (but I hope it doesn't *sound* like that... :) )

So, naturally, I was coming as close to Just Intonation intentionally
as Blackjack would permit. Of course, the pitches are about 3 cents
off from just, and since I was using a keyboard they weren't "bent"
in that direction. However, in the recent trombone piece that I
wrote also in Blackjack, I wouldn't be too surprised if the live
player wouldn't make those small adjustments going along...

****The title is simply an abbreviation of "Blackjack Electronic..."
