Hi there !

I'm a completely newbie about microtonal music. Does anyone knows of a good
site or a FAQ about the subject so I may read something about it ?

Thanks in advance

Andr

Hi Andre!

Well, there was an attempt to create a FAQ over at the largest group
devoted to the subject,

tuning-math@yahoogroups.com

but there was so much bickering about the idea of a FAQ that very
little got done.

The best thing to do is to join the above group, ask lots of
questions both here and there, and look at the various bookmarked
websites -- especially the "big daddy",

http://www-math.cudenver.edu/~jstarret/microtone.html

Welcome to this strange and wonderful world, and enjoy!

Hello Andre!

And don't forget the "main" "Tuning List." The list is mostly
concerned with tuning *theory* unlike *this* list which is about
practical music-making. However, it's an excellent background if
you're new to the field:

Ummm, you *did* mean tuning@yahoogroups.com, didn't you? Unless tuning-math has had some kind of Gigantic Explosion in members, the tuning list is by far the largest group, and most definitely the first stop a newbie should make.

Absolutely a very good start, and if someone starts wandering around these part, they will inevitably bump into the strange sub-language of tuning-ologists, what with wafso-just and secors and whatnot - they definitely need to take a look at Joe Monzo's Tuning Dictionary:

Over and out,
Jon

My apologies, I sure did mean tuning@yahoogroups.com . . . I don't
know what got into my fingers and I'm lashing them as we speak . . .

On the right hand only, if even that! :)
