Thanks, it's beautiful! I thought of you today, in a near-tuning-math
related way. First I saw 1/3, and then I saw 2/3. What I was seeing
was portions of a rainbow, the first when I was in my car, and the
second when I was walking my wolf/dog. It all added up to a 1/1
rainbow day, and then you sent your gift.

Sometimes things work out...

Bestest,
Jon

Thank you Jacky, and the same to you. I wanted to make this my
wallpaper, but it's too big. I can send you some fractal wallpapers I
made if you like (that goes for everyone).

I use 1024 x 768.

I've made more tuning-related mandalas on the harmonic_entropy and
tuning lists . . . these ones are just Mandelbrot set zooms with a
224-color palette.

This is a map of all the triads a:b:c in the harmonic series that
span up to one octave (plus a few wider-spanning ones -- the result
of a happy accident), where a*b*c < 80000. The three tones are
_ordered_ and therefore 2:3:4 is considered a different triad than
4:3:2 (imagine three different instruments).

The center is 1:1:1, and the six corners of the big hexagon are
1:1:2, 1:2:2, 1:2:1, 2:2:1, 2:1:1, and and 2:1:2. If you're clever,
you can find your favorite harmonic series triads, be they 4:5:6,
6:7:9, or whatever. Or you can cheat and look at the archives of

harmonic_entropy@yahoogroups.com

Happy holidays!

J Gill: I took a look at your Triad mandala, which is pretty darn interesting!

Have you considered that (some) of the folks in this group are *not* members of the "harmonic_entropy" group, and, therefore cannot access the "harmonic_entropy" files?

BTW, Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop can "batch convert" JPGs to BMPs (so they can be placed in the main Windows folder, for use as deskstop wallpaper). These programs can also "resize" to (600x600, or what have you). Jacky's mandala item looks great on my desktop!

If you like, I (could) convert file-type and pixel size (though the latter can, in some cases, degrade the image quality) images for folks for you or other folks who want to place images in this group's "File Section".

Regards, J Gill

Are you sure? I set the files folder of harmonic entropy to be open,
rather than members-only, access . . . is this not working?

Paul,

I was unaware of such a thing being "configurable" (by owner/moderator).

Since I *am* a member of the "harmonic_entopy" group (and, as a result, have access to those files), I am not one who can "test that out" for you...

Perhaps someone else (who is not a member) could try it out for you.

Regards, J Gill

Thanks for that gift, though I get the enjoyment from the visual
aspect, not comprehending the graphing of the triads! I art-ified it
and re-uploaded as snowflake.jpg in our own files, as thanks for your
sharing of it...

Cheers,
Jon

These are very beautiful, Paul... Reminds me of my, er..."youth.."

Nice enhancement by Jon Szanto of the "traditional" (by now) triadic
one...

Far out! I've been playing christmas carols in the tuning-math Pelog
tuning, playing guitars onstage, and getting sick, so way behind on
the lists . . .
