Frogs, Crickets, Cicadas and Cats

Hello, all - this is my first post here (been lurking a while), but I just
had to add to the bio-acoustic discussion.

I recently read a study (see the link below) in which researchers determined
that the low-frequency range of cats' purring has been shown to promote
healing and bone-density growth:

Intuitively, I hypothesized that the sound of crickets and frogs might have
similar properties, and that we are serenaded each night by healing sounds
(kinda woo-woo, but I like the idea :-).

Jacky, did you find any low-frequency elements in the sound samples from the
critters? The article said the research "reinforces studies confirming that
exposure to frequencies of 20-50Hz strengthens human bones and helps them to
grow."

Welcome Lev,

I read an article regarding this earlier in the year, it was posted on the
tuning_list, and there was some discussion about cat purring there, although
I don't know what the subject heading would be.
