Jon, I must reply that mp3.com was not ripping off artists. All the music
posted on their site is either original or used by permission, and they
aggressively removed any illegitimate mp3s. As for the mymp3 debacle for
which they were sued, many industry insiders consider this a bad ruling,
as do I. The music distributed in this way was owned by the listeners who
submitted it (they bought the albums) and mp3.com stored and streamed it
to them and them alone. You cannot listen to someone else's collection
using this technology.

It's the Napster thing that makes it so MP3s can be distributed freely...
personally, it makes me want to by the CDs... because I hate how Mp3s don't
flow well from song to song like CDs do. :)
