Gee, started dropping by after a long absence and find out (via Grahams history) that I helped rediscover something. Either that or I've discovered
someone with my name. Good deal in either event!

It seems that Valentine temperament has something to do with (or maps nicely to) EDO31. At the time I was active here, I was very excited about MOSes
and 31. Even got a 31-tone G&L, (though I never really produced anything with it). Assuming that really is my name there, I am honored!

Obviously lurking is because I am getting re-interested in computer music and tuning again, do people on this list work with CSound?
Any recommendations for how to get a 'composing process' going for someone who has been mainly noodling on 12-tet guitars for the past
few years?

Re the English Cadence, I've been listening to pre-tonal music a lot, both Medeivel and Renaissance (and this list was a key in turning me on to a lot of
It). It was obvious there was some momentary 'spiciness' in the Tallis I was listening to. It sounds a lot better with a choir than an mp3 piano. Harmony
(whether consonant or dissonant) was a byproduct of melodies, leading tones came before Vmajor-->I! So the 'augmented octaves' is just a harmonic
collision between the 'rising' melody and the 'falling' melody. The amount of spiciness may have a lot to do with how a choir tunes it. For a "sharps are
higher than flats" kind of tuning, it will be a milder dissonance than a meantone.

Sorry if a signature gets attached to this, I'll try to work on that.

Valentine is (or could be) 31&46. It has 15 and 16 note MOSs. So,
you must have been looking at a 15 or 16 note scale in EDO31, and the
repercussions are with us to this day.

Prent uses it, some of the rest of us have looked at it. There was a
thread around these parts recently. Summary: avoid certain pitch to
frequency opcodes if you want obsessive accuracy.

Dig out that 31-tone G&L?
