There are many other sites similar to mp3.com's offering mp3 streaming and
archiving. If mp3.com goes belly up, a lot of work will be lost, but there
will be other servers and companies offering the same services (I hope).
The main problem is the chilling effect this will have. Few companies
will be willing to try new delivery strategies if they expect to be sued
and shut down. As far as I am
concerned, the major labels have done very little for the non mainstream
artist, and the mp3 phenomenon is the best thing to come along for non
commercial artists since the home studio.

Owning a CDR drive opened up a lot of doors for me
and it's cd quality with no compression like
MP3 or RA.
