virtual microtonal band?

Ok,

I just watched on TED, and then Youtube Eric Whitacre's virtual choir.

An excellent Idea!

Here is the product

Here is the recording / conductor track (bit boring of course)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrQRVI8y5j8&feature=relmfu

And here is the TED talk on how it was done
http://www.ted.com/talks/eric_whitacre_a_virtual_choir_2_000_voices_strong.html

I am interested in knowing if anyone would want to be involved in a youtube microtonal band done in a similar fashion.

I have a bit of experience - I did this video in Pomplamoose style:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWmbqCdake0

So, a 4 to 6 member band I can do - are there any interested microtonalists?

Chris

That could be a fun thing to try. Depending on the part and the tuning, I could do a keyboard part on the DX7II or maybe something with the WX7 wind controller and the TX81Z.

That sounds great Herman!

The way I am thinking to approach this is to have a virtual jam - have
someone start and then we can each compose and add our part.
And probably remove the original starting point. And if the sound works I'm
not oppose to using more than one tuning at the same time.

So far, Norm Harris a percussionist, Mike Battaglia a guitarist, and myself
(I figure to play fretless bass) have expressed interest. I'm talking to
Carlo Serafini as well but I do not think he has made a decision yet.

Heh, I like this idea.
If you need a harmonica, I might try, too.

Cool, then maybe the WX7 is my best option, since I can use lip pressure to adjust pitch if the tuning starts to vary. It would still be nice to have a general idea of the tuning so that I can set it up (it can have more than 12 notes to the octave, both the DX7II and TX81Z can tune each note individually over the whole range).

Hi Hans - just dropping a note to say I saw this and I'm glad you are
interested.

If Jeff doesn't have a problem with this proposal I think we should meet at
http://www.nonoctave.com/forum/

I am thinking a forum like Jeff's, which doesn't even require registration,
will be more useful to us for this project.

Hi Herman - I have no idea of the tuning - in fact this is a question Carlo
raised over at http://www.nonoctave.com/forum/

This is so early in the project I don't know - however, there is no reason
why a piece has to stick with just one tuning.
