Well, that is what the existing "excursion" is about -- in a special case.

I could stand to understand these things better as well. Due to an error in
my program, I wasn't able to find any 3-d examples of "doubles", and then
Kees found a 2-d example, though an unwieldy one. I'll try to find some
simpler 2-d examples so we can see more clearly what is going on.
