I haven't had this problem -- my "from" field has always contained the name
and address of the sender.

Is it displayed like

From: "Paul H. Erlich" <PERLICH@ACADIAN-ASSET.COM>

by itself right before the content of the message, or is it only in the
following:

For me it used the be the former (good) but since the merger of onelist
with egroups it is only the latter (bad).

John, it must be the e-mail program you are using or something else
downstream from egroups. I don't get all that junk in my messages, nor did I
experience any other changes in behavior.
