Hardware Advice Request

I recently added a Yamaha TX81Z and Macintosh PowerPC 7100 to my
"studio." I'm attempting to retune the TX81Z using JICalc. The usual
result is that it reprograms the tuning table to a random state - ET
tunings end up with different step sizes, octaves all mixed up, some
notes not retuned at all, etc. The strange thing is that it sometimes
works fine, but I haven't been able to determine under which
conditions it will work or fail and I can't reproduce good results
with any kind of predictability. Oh yeah, before anyone reminds me to
RTFM, I don't have a manual. I'll gladly buy, beg, or borrow a manual
or photocopy of one.

In the meantime, I've been playing with MIDI sequences using QuickTime
3.0 Musical Instruments. If anyone has experience retuning this
(poorly documented) system, please tell me what you are doing. I've
figured out that I can use the pitch bend to retune individual
channels (relative 12tET), but setting up some kind of global tuning
table would be much more convenient.
