New to forum--looking for texts

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum and was hoping for some help! I'm a musicologist
looking at intuitive (rather than mathematically based) instances of tuning
and intonation in popular music in a dissertation but am also in the process
of hunting for some more sources or instances where musicians have deviated
from equal temperament and what might have been written about that.

I'm not a total newbie to tuning. I've worked with various
tunings/temperaments while tuning my harpsichord. At some point (probably as
a Christmas gift) I received a copy of the Jorgensen book and it has been
useful. Having studied with James Tenney in grad school, I became acquainted
with just intonation and Harry Partch's writings and theories as well as the
music of La Monte Young and others.

What I'm looking for are texts at this point. I've got a basic acoustic text
(Bacchus--not user friendly), the Partch, Jorgensen, and Helmholtz, but am
open to any further bibliographical leads. Keep in mind that I am a
musicologist and hard core physics tends to baffle me to an extent.
However, I have no problems with ratios, non-linear things things like Hertz
vs. cents, and the like, but my background is more a musical one than
anything else. All work done with Jorgensen has been by ear, for instance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
