To Carl > I suppose figurative speech like "spouting from the blowhole" is more deserving of warning of moderation in your perspective than direct insults and ad hominems such as:

"you're a prick",
"you're an obnoxious punk", and
"you're an astonishingly arrogant person who lacks self-awareness".

which you comfortably ignore.

Not that I'm complaining - given that the sore voice from my spambox will remain in the spambox. However, I think this episode neatly demonstrates your merits as moderator.

I would, on the other hand, gladly have you as a respected colleague in the field of tuning, temperament and music theory - AFTER you step down as you said you would, and hopefully very soon.

Cordially,
Oz.

I'm not sure who said these things but they should have
at received at least a warning in my opinion. Some of them
may have, from me or other moderators, offlist. I am only
one of the moderators, I can't catch everything, and absent
a clear mandate from the community I must always err on the
side of forgiveness when I do. Your recent behavior was
systematic and consistent, which I am less likely to overlook
than a single outburst made at a moment of high excitement.

I will, as soon as things have calmed down, which they
seem close to doing. However I will say again that you are
imagining far too much of the moderator role. Nothing will
change after I pass the torch (as I have done twice before).
If you have issues with authority I suggest you not take
them out on me.

-Carl

Dear Carl, thank you for the explanations. No, I am not having issues with authority, but rather, the mishandling of such. Time will tell if I am indeed overestimating the role of moderators.

Cordially,
Oz.
