My wife and infant son currently overseas, so I have a little lime time to try to chip in with something or another (however awful, hi there Doctor Oz), but it won't last.
Personally, I've been listening to a lot of Kacapi Suling lately (great baby music IMO), and I recorded this on a recent camping trip in Maine in the State Forest's Bathroom, thankfully it was so empty at this time of year that no-one walked in or they probably would've shot me!
It's kidna rough and more than a little ragged in spots and I was in a somewhat alerted state recording it, but I really like its vibe, wrinkles and all

I seem to have become the crux of every unbalanced, troubled or
outright cocky psyche here, sad to say.

mmm you carry quite a load with you on vacation!

Strangely soothing in a mad kind of way.

Have you run this through Paul's Extreme Stretch? I think it might transform
into something cosmic if you like that sort of thing.

Thanks Chris.and yeah, the bells were pushing it for sure as they are just not mobile, but I was out for 10 days these were drive in site so it really wasn't too bad. I recorded it all with a an Olympus LS-10 field recorder, while not cheap, one of the better investments I've made in recent history.

hmm, should I be embarrassed to say I don't know what it is?
okay, Free Lossless Audio Codec, just looked it up, I'll check it... but what's the primary advantage?
BTW, the reason I use something like YouSendIt is that it's somewhat temporary by internet standards and won't sit there for eternity, and WAVsare usually pretty audio-friendly. Two things I prefer, though I know it's a pain to download compared to other streaming-type formats

Files that are half the size. Secondary: you get
error correction to prevent corruption of your audio
over time.

Unlike some lossless formats, FLAC does stream well.
But I actually prefer to download than stream.

Saving the space and up/downloading time without losing audio quality. From this point of view Monkey's Audio APE format should give slightly better results.

(1) It's lossless

(2) It's supported better than competing codecs such as APE

(3) It supports tags and, uniquely so far as I know, embedded cue sheets

In most respects it gives worse results, so I don't think the marginal improvement in compression is that big a deal. If it is a huge deal, there's OptimFROG, which is even better.

Congratulations my good fellow. You've just earned a free one-way ride
to my spam-mail box. In order that that irritation of yours is
preserved in prime condition, let me say that you ought not bother
reply to me with any such parapharnalia again, for I shall not be
wasting my good time reading any of this kind of gibberish.

Cordially,

I second that. What happened to you, Oz? I don't remember you having
such an overly high opinion of yourself.

Here is Paul's Extreme Stretch

http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/

Try loading your wave in at the default settings and kick back with
your favorite beverage while it plays. You might be amazed at what
good programming with fast fourier transforms can do. I was. And you
can do microtonal stuff as well with the harmonics setting on the 2nd
page of the interface.

Thanks Chris I'll check it
FWIW, here's another piece from the same expedition with (for better or worse--worse i think) a bit more post production

http://tinyurl.com/26pm2ny

Same instrumentation/inspiration as the other piece, but this one was open air so you have more residual contributions (birds, wind, water) and was recorded in a concave space giving it a nice natural reverb--again, that's the Olympus LS-10 BTW, which while not cheap was one of the better investments I've made
Funny enough, I broke a string on the mandolin early in, but then i tuned the seven remaining seven strings to the theme that opens this piece... happy accidents are goog accidents
