Re the California State University and Long Beach oral history archive:

I might add that the late Peter Yates was a champion both of Kuhnle's
tuning theories and
microtonality in general. I heard him lecture on Yates and microtones at
UCSD in the early 60's.
Yates later became chair of the music department at SUNY, Buffalo.

Gerald Strang was a pioneer in computer music, running Music IV in the
LA area back in the
1960's. He also experimented with alternative tunings , IIRC 20-tet in
one piece.
