DropBox dedicated to Ethno2

Hello folks!

Thank you to all the participants of the Motu-Ethno2 microtonal competition, whose compositions give a good idea of what microtonality can be, at least in traditional or neo-traditional ways (Ethno2 is not done for exploring the great diversity of synthesized sounds and experimental musics, but his microtonal implementation and the easiness to use it are exceptional).

So, i propose to let the DropBox open (dedicated exclusively to Ethno2) so that everyone who wants to share a composition could open there a personal folder, by just asking to me (or any of the participants to the context) for codes and instructions. I think this will be helpful to everybody.

Here is(as before!)the sharing box:

Why would you want to do so ? I would advise you keep at least what you consider the best of your demos in here. The link has been sent to MOTU with some questions concerning the presentation of the demos on their website. "Waiting for the Unicorn"...

ok, I'll keep my material there until MOTU decides what to do.

You may not know I have my own website which I pay for and host my
blog, webpage, a xenharmonic (and 12 equal) music forum plus
xenharmonic community (among others). For that reason I don't have
need for the hosting on dropbox and I object to having an addition
application in windows use dropbox.. If you want a central place for
Ethno compositions I can accommodate you with links and / or html
pages placed in your dropbox account with little trouble. If you get
tired of dropbox for any reason I can host your ethno files. I have a
TB of space and unlimited bandwidth.

Hi Chris!

I understand your position. But to use the dropbox you don't need to have it installed on your computer: you can load files (up and down) directly from the dropbox site. So, just uninstall the dropbox application from your computer, then delete the associated folder .

To let or not your files in this common dropbox is (of course!) up to you. But outside the fact that a real common box for microtonal pieces (yet dedicated to Ethno2) is a good thing for every one interested in microtonality, i don't see why to multiply hosts to your compositions could be bad for you (knowing that inside the dropbox you can give all the links you want with an "info" file, in html, pdf or whatever format you like).

But that is just my point of view, isn't it...
:-)
