Vibrato

I haven't had a chance to read all of the disscussion about vibrato effects upon
tuning, but I'll mention one thing I've come to realize about the question:

For the most part vibrato is more meaningful on longer, sustained notes. That's
a slight oversimplification, but it's not far from the truth to say that vibrato
is difficult to realize and make musically meaningful on, say, a run of 8th
notes at 120bpm. That being the case, if you want the humanity of vibrato
without the risk of losing the opportunity to savor the specific flavor your
tuning gives a harmony or melody, then simply use vibrato on longer notes, and
either start the long notes without vibrato and let it increase over the course
of the note, or the reverse.
