Daniel,

How is the latency with mellosoftron given your hardware setup?

With a 466Mhz cpu, I've had no problems. Do you have the latest update?

Daniel,

Ok, I just got the latest of mellosofttron III. Seems to work well with no
detectable latency with my AMDII 350.

It doesn't seem to have any microtonal capability, expect for pitch bend.
Am I correct?

I also am giving wavmaker a try, which has great flexibility it its tuning
tables. Seems a shame that they would not include that in mellosoftron.

Any thoughts?

It's as microtonal as the samples you are working with. I like to sample an
instrument, analyse it with either AcidWAV, PRAAT, or spectrogram, and then
synthesize, based on the analysis, with AcidWAV, giving the file whatever
precise pitch I need. I then port the individual samples to Mellosoftron and
assign them as to the keyboard as I need them. If harddrive space is at a
premium, then you can create some redundancy (i.e. let octaves share a
sample) via the base key command in the PRG editor (if I were working in
some multiple of 12tet tuning, there would be additional room to duplicate
samples).

WAVMaker is really a very different animal, a midi-to-wav rendering program,
while Mellosoftron is for realtime performance. The combination of pitch
precision and friendly working environment is great.

It doesn't seem to have any micro ability

Correction, it does have vitually unlimited microtonal capability.

Daniel,

Thanks for your assistance with this program. I have figured out how to
assign a wav to a single midinote (or a note range). The trouble I am
having now is that the PRG editor does not seem to consistently save
changes. I read the instructions very carefully, but find that any changes
I make do not stick. It seems to be an intermittant problem -- when the
save/apply does work, I am not able to determine the conditions by which it
worked.

Did you also encounter this problem? Is there a solution? Or should a just
use a text editor?

You must have only the trial version. Perhaps the editor is one of the
disabled featured and you need to order the key to open it.
