To all,

fixed a minor bug in the program. Please let me know if the program won't run on your machine.

John.

John,

I want to know the JI equivalent ratio for a major 9th - C to D a ninth
above for instance.
Can your calculator do that?

I have not tried it yet.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

No, the JI equivalent ratio depends on how the C and D are tuned. Take the two frequencies and work out the perfect or approximate ratio between the two notes. In 12 TET the A/E (220Hz/329.9Hz) is approximately 2/3. If you want to know how strong 2/3 is just enter 2 and 3 into the calculator.

John.

Thanks John.

I hate to be such a bother but I need to ask if you'd post a link to your
calculator. I looked in the file section of the tuning list on yahoo and
didn't find an entry under your name.

Chris,

that's strange, it works fine at my end. Go to "Files" and then to the JohnOSullivan folder. If it's still not there please let me know as I will want to fix this.

If this doesn't work go to www.johnsmusic7.com and there should be a link to the program (PC version only) near the bottom of the page. This is an older version of the program and you need to add 0.129 to each result (only relevant to the 7/12 interval which is just about good i.e. has a value of 0.128).

If anyone else couldn't find the program in the "Files" section please let me know.

John.

Michael,

do me a small favour. Go to "Files" and then to the JohnOSullivan folder and see if my Interval Calculator program is there. Chris couldn't find it and I want to do a check. If it's not there I'll want to rectify this. Is Carl Lumma the man to go to about this?

John.

I'm the man, except anyone can check this, including you. Chris probably couldn't see it on his blackberry. :P

Chris, can you please trim your replies?

Also folks, there's no need to carry on pithy conversations onlist. Just click on the "send email" link on the right to send the person an offlist msg.

Thx,
