The Feb 2000 issue of Guitar Player had a feature about Darby Slick
(Grace's brother; he wrote "Somebody to Love"). He has several double
neck guitars, one neck fretless, one 12 eq; he's playing bluesy stuff,
but studied for 10 years with Ali Akbar Khan. No mention of tuning. The
March issue, I am told, has an article about our compadre Stephen James
Taylor. I have not yet read it, but heard it was favorable. These are
good things. Love to hear more about the adventures of the
microtonal/fretless guitars at NAMM...a friend of mine, Kenny Kidd,
played a 9 string guitar set out there, and got to meet SJT...small
world...Hstick

There are three brief RA excerpts and a record company profile (etc.)
at:

<http://www.taxim.com/items/tx2036.htm>

"After the impressive 1995 comeback of critically acclaimed Westcoast
guitar legend and psychedelia songwriting master, Darby Slick
("Somebody to Love"/Jefferson Airplane, ...), in form of the unique
father-and-son project SandOland (Taxim TX 2022), he steps out on his
own with his completely instrumental CD "King of the Fretless Guitar".
The title, given to him by numerous highly respected guitarists of the
fusion rock guild, is equally the concept of the entire record."

"...numerous highly respected guitarists of the fusion rock guild..."
Who? The what? Bizarre... sounds like some mysterious handshake,
secret guitar society!
