the lists in general

Ok, so I've been wondering a couple of things:

The traffic has slowed down greatly on all the tuning lists (all 3 of them, 5 if you cound tuning-math and metatuning) and the Xenharmonic Alliance. I want to simplify my life. I'd prefer to check in on at most 2 lists, but I want to NOT miss anything...

Is the new Just Intonation list really worth being a member of? There hasn't been any activity, Kraig is back here, and JI was never really unwelcome here, IMO.

And...MMM really has not been active...I just feel like it used to be needed, but perhaps not anymore. It goes days without activity while the tuning list goes on with (sometimes worthless) activity.

I've considered dropping out of the lists altogether, b/c they've reached a bit of a nadir in terms of signal/noise ratio, but then again, sometimes there is a killer piece to hear, or an informative post.

I'm wondering if anyone agress with the above, so that we can have an implicit agreement to keep most everything in Xenharmonic Alliance or here, and let MMM and JI groups languish until they are needed? (hopefully never)

Where are these other lists of which you speak? As for the Xenharmonic
Alliance, are you referring to http://xenharmonic.ning.com/groups?
The largest group has 17 people, and seems far less active than the
tuning list, the activity of which comes in spurts anyway.

Have they? Hard to see from a quick inspection of the Message
History grid here on tuning main page. One of our highest-
volume months was this past February. Tuning-math has
definitely slowed, but that's understandable since 3 of the 6
founding members quit.

If you get them by e-mail, they can be all funneled into the
same mailbox, which is almost like they were a single list.

I think there's still a role for a mailing list, though I
expect there to be a period of more diverse activity as
microtonal music is popularized (which is a good thing).

Improved S/N here is something I'd like to see.
Unfortunately there's no magic wand for improving the S/N
of mailing lists that I know of.

Well, one comment about XA is that it's yet another
proprietary platform. I am impressed with their stuff
overall, but I'd hate for them to get bought by Yahoo a
year after we switched!

I also have trouble using it as a new music finding tool.
When I visit, the playlist is apparently randomized.
I can't sort by date, and I can't download the tracks.
I can click on each person and see their activity, but
that's obviously not a feasible way to get updates. Am
I doing it wrong?

I also don't understand the point or function of all
the subgroups. Do they have a point or function?
