Just bought a beautiful CD by Rinaldo Alessandrini. All works by Bach played
on a harpsichord Anthony Sidey after an 18th century German instrument of
the school of Gottfried Silbermann. German temperament by Sorge tuned at
413. Alessandrini explained on the French radio that this temperament
(based on a 1/4 Pythagorean comma) was used in Italy until deep in the 19th
century and that many organs in Italy were tuned in this way. The CD starts
with the Chromatic Fantasy!
