Context is everything

9/7 can be perceived as a 5/4, 9/7 or 4/3, depending on context.
Another exemple of contextual perception is this;
With the appropriate melodic motions, it is possible to perceive the
2^(3/15) interval as a
9/8 (5-limit JI with syntonic comma),
8/7 (pentatonic scale), even as a
7/6 (listen to 15TET's definition of the blues scale, 1/1 7/6 4/3 7/5 3/2
7/4 2/1)

Learning to accept the 15-tone comma pump (I vi ii v i) is also possible.

Forcing oneself into hearing this xenharmonic bridge of (49/48) * (64/63) or
a 80cents wide syntonic comma is one of the joys of microtonal music.

John deLaubenfels:
My preference goes to "jumpier" music. Your 7-limit JI files are
appreciated; stronger/driftier rendition would also be welcomed.
5-limit meantone tunings do sound nice, but we hear them all the time
(considering that 12-equal is a meantone tuning)

There will always be a demand for snack bars (12-equal), fancy restaurants
(meantone, well-tempered, conventional 5-limit), but some of us also like
mexican food. As well as french cuisine, indian curry...

Could we have a discussion on the tuning list to try and classify microtonal
intonations/temperaments into categories (ranging from conservative to more
liberal)? Maybe there is a need for this kind of labels.
