thought you all would be interested in this upcoming concert by just
intonation composer Wolfgang Von Schweinitz.

WOLFGANG VON SCHWEINITZ
REDCAT January 24th, 2009

http://redcat.org/season/0809/mus/schweinitz.php

The German composer has been long celebrated for the impassioned
eloquence and rare lyrical beauty of his music. More recently, von
Schweinitz has turned to a profound exploration of microtonal
phenomena in a body of work whose newest opus is this evening's
sublime Plainsound Glissando Modulation, a raga in just intonation for
violin and double bass. Receiving its U.S. debut, the monumental
composition is played by violinist Helge Slaatto and bassist Frank
Reinecke. The concert opens with Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick's performance
of Plainsound-Litany, for solo cello.

Thanks for posting the score, Torsen. I've only started looking at it,
but it's interesting, for sure! Seems like a really well thought our
score-- the Helmholtz-Ellis is pretty easy to understand at a glance,
and the addition of difference tones and formants seems both practical
and interesting.

Dear Cody,

> Seems like a really well thought our score

:)

The works of Wolfgang von Schweinitz are highly "thought-out" in
general. He is just this kind of gay who tends discussing four bars
in a composition for > 2 hours. I am talking from experience here, I
have been his student, and it was always intense..

Anyway, you find links to more works here: http://www.plainsound.org/
WSwork.html (this link has been posted before here, sorry for doing
it again).
