AW.: Ives' Universe Symphony

The "Universe" is not one of the numbered symphonies. Ives wrote four
numbered symphonies, the "Holidays" which may be played as a single work in
four movements or as four separate pieces, two "Orchestral Sets" (which are
symphonic in scope but do not follow a traditional movement scheme), and the
incomplete "Universe". The only commercially recorded attempt to complete
the latter is a version by Larry Austin. Unfortunately, the positive aspects
of Austin's realization are often marred by a garrish, under-rehearsed
performance. List member Johnny Reinhard's realization has not been
commecially recorded, and I understand there are at least three other
realizations in progress. Lastly, composer Henry Brant has made an
orchestration of the second, "Concord, Mass." Piano Sonata, as a "Concord
Symphony".

Daniel, you make it sound like a race. There is a David Porter
semi-realization of 2 movements. Are there others to be completed? Please
do tell.

Hmm, speaking of this, has anyone heard Porter's realization of the
"Emerson Concerto for Piano and Orchestra"?
