QWERTY keyboard CAL programming

Hey folks,

Is it possible to write a Cakewalk CAL program
that would map QWERTY keyboard entry to MIDI notes?

I am using scala/cakewalk to microtune a yamaha tx81z synth module to the
8x8 matrix. I don't have a MIDI keyboard, and of course the matrix does not
map well onto a 5/7 keyboard.

Any ideas?
