Hey, tuners,

finally, I've made a recording with my kalimba tuned to the mavila pentatonic. In the beginning, I quote a traditional Javanese melody, and then I go on with something completely different that just came out of my mind. Similarly to the previous kalimba pieces, again, I've recorded two kalimba tracks, one of which is played at twice its original speed (not exactly twice, in fact, in order to be in tune with the stretched octaves). If you wish to hear the original melody played with a gamelan ensemble, I've found a "not-very-good quality recording" on the web in the RealAudio format. If your browser doesn't handle links like this, save the link to a ".ram" file and run it in Real Player:

Hey, guys, I've just downloaded the piece of software there. Whatever weird it is to listen to music with audibly quantized note lengths, there's a lot of interesting samples of individual tones of the instruments in the "Wave" directory, some of which are deviating from regular heptatonic or pentatonic scales in various nice ways. One of the "Balafon" subdirectories there even contains tones of something like 5-EDO or what that is. ... Quite a good sound library - wonder how they compressed the setup executable, it has only about 27 Mb in size.

I've scanned the entire "Wave" folder - and guess what? It has only about 32 Mb! I can't believe it. Most of the sounds are uncompressed 16-bit samples recorded at 44,1kHz -- except a few ones which are at 22,05kHz.
