SEVENTEEN TONE PIANO PROJECT PHASE FOUR

Presenting Microtonal Songs

The Seventeen-Tone Piano Project began with tuning two acoustic pianos
in seventeen equal tones per octave and then playing music on them.
The project was created with the intention of encouraging (and at the
very least not discouraging) the writing of music in the 17-tet
system. There are no restrictions on eligibility; all sentient
creatures are invited. We will try to have as many concerts as
interest in the project can sustain.

Current phase: PHASE FOUR!
Phase Four, the current phase, consisted of a call for MICROTONAL
SONGS, vocal music in all kinds of non-12 tunings, and culminates with
two events: a sing-along session on April 30 and a concert on May 1, 2008.

MICROTONAL SING-ALONG (gather round the microtonal MIDI keyboard!):
April 30, 2008, 8pm
1618 Bonnie Brae St.
Houston, TX 77006

CONCERT
May 1st, 2008, 8:00pm
Rice University/Shepherd School of Music: Hirsch Orchestra Rehearsal Hall
Houston, TX 77005

Come one, come all. Live webcast, possibly. Recordings, well, you've
come to expect them, haven't you? Tentative list of composers
featured: Ben Johnston, Michael Dixon, Nathan Brock, Jacob Barton,
Paul Rapoport, Tommy Scheurich, Chris Bailey, Andrew Heathwaite,
Elaine Walker, Ian Dicke, Travis Weller, Dan Stearns, and Paul Kotheimer.

good luck jacob, man you're doing so much good work-- what is it with
bassoonists as microtonal impresarios anyway! When the smoke clears
and you've got a second ,i'd love to hear how the "sing-along" went
and tonight's concert as well (btw,no webcast i guess hmm?
